"Silent Room / "Arto" Room 381" by Skoltz Kolgen - 2003-2008 /8'02''
Skoltz Kolgen is a duo of artists from Quebec composed of Dominique Skoltz and Herman W. Kolgen; they live and work in Montréal. These rigorous and disturbing artists focus on the relationship between sound and image. Their many-pronged work encompasses cinematic works, installations, performances, and photographic objects, using both image and sound.
Here we present one of the rooms of a group show entitled "Silent Room". It is an X-ray of twenty rooms, twenty individuals,
twenty intimacies. This room corresponds to our inner selves. A broken interior where the senses have been tainted by care-fee and poetic exchanges. This poemfilm does not tell a story so much as it presents an ensemble of live scenes organized around one single idea, an impulse, the void, the quest for perfection. This is a work in contrasts, the cinema of a chamber, where that which is the most silent and least visible violently whispers its presence..
