"Power Up" by Jungju An - 2006 / 3'35''
The South Korean video-artist, was born in 1979 in Kwangju in South Korea. He obtained a Master of Fine Arts Degree in 2006 in the Graduate School of Communication and Art in Yonsei University in Seoul. This artist has an undeniable talent along the lines of and in the traditions of the great video-artist and pioneer of that form of art, his compatriot, Nam Jun Paik.
In parallel, Jungju An chooses themes that disturb people in various geographic zones throughout the world, but which remain themes with a philosophical and esthetic meaning. Jungju An likes time's daily reminders: leaves rustling, water running, a military march. This DJ and video artist assembles these heteroclite elements to compose original scores.

Jungju's film gives us a real close up on physical training. Repetition and effort are the main themes. In that movie,no amazing record but a meticulous preparation close to perfection. An invitation to meditate and to concentrate. The rhythm of breathing speaks the body and sets the mind.
