"Bissextiles" by Electronic Shadow
The Electronic Shadow group is a hybrid design platform made up of two artists: Yacine Ait Kaci and Naziha Mestaqui who carried out independent researches until 2000, and then decided to combine their experiments and their works under the label Electronic Shadow.
Electronic Shadow's artistic and creative approach is chiefly based on research and innovation, both from an artistic point of view and from a technological point of view. From the multidisciplinary proposals there come both spaces and images, in a diversity of materials and of light, in such varying artistic fields as architecture, design, stage setting.
The most important international museums have devoted exhibitions to their works including the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Musée d'Art de la Ville de Paris, the Musée de la Villette in Paris, the Japan Media Art Festival.
Electronic Shadow has been awarded numerous prizes and awards, including the Grand Prize of the Japan Media Art Festival in 2005; the Trophy Art and Culture, Laval Virtual in 2005; Recommended Work, Japan Media Art for 2004 and 2005; Trophy Architecture, Art and Culture, Laval Virtual, 2004.
Bisextiles is an interactive collection installation on the theme of manhood, symbolised by the Olympics Games and the five intermingle rings. The other major theme of this show is the memory of the water and the universal vibration.
A pond filled with water will be the representation of this new imaginary geography, combining all the continents. A fountain water system, driven by a computer, lets the water run drop after drop or like a trickle, in five different points in the middle of the five rings, producing the Olympic symbol with the waves crossing each other. A video image that changes with the time is projected on the pond. The five illuminated points gives the opportunity to the public to interact with this piece of art.
